Useful Email Directories
- WhoWhere
- A good directory of email addresses, mostly automatically collected. It (confusingly) shows the name of the service provider as the name of the organization the person belongs to, if they have an ISP account.
- Four 11
- Online email address database. One of the most comprehensive, like all automated directories includes many obsolete email addresses.
- Internet Phone User Directory
- Lists users of Internet Phone, a program for making voice phone calls over the Internet. An excellent directory with lots of different ways to find people.
- Usenet Addresses Database
- From MIT, this is a directory of around 4 million email addreess that have posted to usenet since 1991.
- Internet Address Finder
- Nearly 4 million email addresses. Includes "reverse search": get a user name from an email address.
- Bigfoot
- A directory of email addresses. It seems to be using fairly recent data to build its list of email addresses, so there is more chance an address found here is current. Offers a free email forwarding service.
- Accumail
- From Infospace, this directory claims to be the most accurate email directory. Probably partly as a result, it doesn't have as many listings as most. The bulk of the listings are of customers of Compuserve, Prodigy and MSN, and contact names for domains, it doesn't seem to grab names from Usenet like most others.
- Populus
- Calls itself the "intelligent people locator". Can locate people by more than just their name, but doesn't seem to have a large number of names yet (well, doesn't have people I know..). Has various meeting, community and chat options which look quite powerful.
- Okra Net Citizen Directory Service
- This directory of email addresses contains over 5.4 million listings. Like most automated listings, many are out of date, but it could help you find someone.
